Emu Oil for Tattoos

Fresh Tattoo - February 2012
Same Tattoo - July 2014

Using emu oil during the healing process of new tattoos can be very beneficial.  First, emu oil works to relieve that sting and pain of fresh needlework. Second, emu oil helps prevent that itchy feeling during the healing process, promotes healing. Emu oil may prevent scabbing because emu oil helps reduce plasma oozing. Third, emu oil can help revitalize old artwork look brighter without looking greasy.

To use: massage the emu oil to the tattoo 2 to 3 times every day.

Howard used emu oil on his old tattoos and this is what he had to say: “All my tattoos look “fresher” after a thin layer of emu oil, including the most recent (two months old). I am impressed with the effects.”

The posted pictures are my tattoos that had emu oil applied during the healing process. I don’t use emu oil after healing is complete. I prefer to use a sunscreen-based lotion on my tattoos to prevent sun damage.  Neither tattoo has ever been touched-up.

Fresh Tattoo - March 2014

As I stated earlier, another important factor to preserve a tattoo appearance is to prevent sun damage. The UV rays from the sun cause damage to skin, especially tattoos! It doesn’t matter if you have had your tattoo for a month or 5 years. Use sunscreen when exposing skin to sunlight!
